Curriculum
Curriculum Intent
We are unapologetically ambitious for our students. Our curriculum is designed to maximise the life chances available to every student when they leave us after five years in our school regardless of their social or economic background. We believe in increasing cultural capital and horizons through a word-rich, ambitious curriculum, taught by passionate experts. Our model is founded on the important principle of providing all our students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, with the knowledge, skills, understanding and cultural exposure they need to succeed in their lives. No child is left behind at CCC.
We offer a broad and ambitious curriculum based on what we believe that every young person should know and learn at secondary school. We are passionate about what we have included and how it links together to impact both holistically and specifically on the overall educational experience of every student. Each subject discipline has carefully planned how their curriculum progresses students from their starting points at the end of Key Stage 2 through to the time they leave us. Both the acquisition of knowledge and the development of reading are fundamental cornerstones of our curriculum design. As a result, students’ reading, in all its guises, in addition to providing abundant opportunities for them to embed knowledge into their long-term memory, supports their personal development as learners as well as equipping them to succeed in their lives, including in the next stages of their education and in employment.
Parents/Carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of the Religious Studies Curriculum.
