Religious Studies

We will ensure that every student, no matter of their social or economic background will have investigated and considered their own and others views on World religions and beliefs.

We want:

  • every student to be a critical and reflective thinker who gives consideration to the views of others as they formulate and refine their own views.

  • every student to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills to effectively consider questions raised by religion and belief so they are able to empathise with others with differing cultures and backgrounds

  • every student to develop their capacity to ask and consider challenging questions about how people think and live their lives, so that they are able to live in a tolerant multicultural society.

  • every student to understand what a worldview is and develop their own worldviews throughout their time at school.

  • every student to develop their ability to understand and assimilate knowledge through reading both on their own and when reading in lessons, and we expect to plan and teach every lesson so that students’ reading improves.

All this should develop an understanding of others and an aptitude for dialogue so that students can participate positively in our diverse society.

Parents/Carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of the Religious Studies Curriculum - please contact us admin@cullompton.bep.ac to find out more.
